As we made our way northward from Texas we encountered
more familiar birds, cooler temperatures and no leaves.

We spent three days at the Winnebago Service Center in Forest City, Iowa
We had chances to bird nearby and found lots of
White-throated Sparrows and other early migrants.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Leaving Iowa, we crossed the Mississippi River and were greeted
by this Bald Eagle on the Wisconsin side.
We then spent 2 and a half days with good friends Bill & Glenda
in Janesville, Wisconsin. We've known them for 54 years, they have recently
joined the birding ranks and learning fast all about the birds.

We detoured East to Sheboygan and found the beautiful Harlequin Ducks

Common Terns gave us another new year bird.
Ring-billed gull screams goodbye to us.
We are off to Green Bay to see many friends and bird the Bay Beach
Wildlife Sanctuary at the peak of migration.
