Visiting Green Bay, Wisconsin and vicinity

Early morning bird walks at the Wildlife Sanctuary.
Great to be returning to Green Bay for Spring migration.

This year a Barred Owl is nesting in the park.

Look carefully and you will see the owlet peeking

This is a great place for warbler migration - one of the rarities
that everyone was looking for was the Canada Warbler.

The Canada Warbler was one of the 26 warbler species that we
saw in the 12 days we birded at the Sanctuary.

Migrating north to Wisconsin

As we made our way northward from Texas we encountered
more familiar birds, cooler temperatures and no leaves.
Ruby-crowned Kinglet displays crown.

We spent three days at the Winnebago Service Center in Forest City, Iowa
We had chances to bird nearby and found lots of
White-throated Sparrows and other early migrants.

And highly curious!

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Leaving Iowa, we crossed the Mississippi River and were greeted
by this Bald Eagle on the Wisconsin side.

We then spent 2 and a half days with good friends Bill & Glenda
in Janesville, Wisconsin. We've known them for 54 years, they have recently
joined the birding ranks and learning fast all about the birds.
