To Wisconsin

 

We left Texas on April 26th, avoiding storms and quickly going through

Arkansas and Missouri, to Iowa.  We spent 3 days at Winnebago in Forest City

for RV Repairs.  Of course time for birding while waiting.

Stopped at Nancy Hamann's on the way and had a nice visit.

This Killdeer nest was almost under the RV.

Female Killdeer was not happy with us.  We had to back up to avoid

hitting the nest.

In another area the chicks had already hatched.

We then spent three days birding with friends, Bill & Glenda Berger

near Janesville, Wisconsin

We spent four days camping at Lake Farm in Madison visiting and

birding with our son Troy.

At Nine Springs we had a variety of shorebirds including this rarity, Hudsonian Godwit.

This large, 25 pounds? Snapping Turtle needed to be moved out of the center of the road near Goose Pond

We watched this Sandhill Crane "painting" itself with red clay

Trying to cover every inch

But only about half done.

We are now in Green Bay for the next three weeks.
