A trip west to Three Forks, we arrived in the dark, our headlights caught our target birds
near the marsh on Bench Road.  Two Short-eared Owls were calling and hunting near the road.

These diurnal owls hunt during the day also.  This makes observation easier and a chance for some
good photos.

The birds were not bothered by us as we didn't leave headlights on them for long.

A few miles down the "gumbo" gravel road, we found the Burrowing Owl adult...

and off in the grass were a trio of Burrowing owlets waiting for breakfast.
