Wisconsin -Birding from Madison to Green Bay

 

We arrived in Madison with thunderstorms moving in.

Our schedule was changed because of RV repairs but it turned out good with extra time in Madison and visits with our son Troy.  

Spring birding was great with many migrants arriving.

Warbler migration was at it's peak.

Butterflies were also migrating.

Red Admirals seem to be everywhere

A trip to Schoenberg Marsh produced 8 Trumpeter Swans.

A pair came close to check out the intruder with a camera.

So cute!  Plus there was another set of colts hatched by the Hussong Trail marsh.

Rain puddles attracted a few shore birds 

Stilt Sandpiper...

and a pair of Wilson's Phalaropes, 

 Role reversal, females have the richer coloration and the males incubate the eggs.

Traveling northeast we followed the Blue Ridge Parkway through North Carolina and Virginia
