To Wisconsin

We left Texas on April 26th, avoiding storms and quickly going through
Arkansas and Missouri, to Iowa.  We spent 3 days at Winnebago in Forest City
for RV Repairs.  Of course time for birding while waiting.
Tree Swallow

Insects were out including this Dragonfly

Dragonfly nymph - empty shell

Pine Warbler

White Breasted Nuthatch
Common birds of the mid-west were all new on our year list.

Chipping Sparrow

American Goldfinch

House Wren

American Robin

Stopped at Nancy Hamann's on the way and had a nice visit.
This Killdeer nest was almost under the RV.

Female Killdeer was not happy with us.  We had to back up to avoid
hitting the nest.

In another area the chicks had already hatched.

N. Rough-winged Swallow

Downy Woodpecker

White-breasted Nuthatch

Tufted Titmouse

Red Squirrel enjoying a sunny day!

We then spent three days birding with friends, Bill & Glenda Berger
near Janesville, Wisconsin
Green Heron

Am.  White Pelicans on the Rock River

Bald Eagle perches near nest over the Pelicans

Ospreys at Lake Kegonsa

Spring is in the air - Ospreys copulating

Yellow Warblers seemed to be abundant

Yellow-rumped Warbler

White-throated Sparrow

Eastern Bluebird

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

We spent four days camping at Lake Farm in Madison visiting and
birding with our son Troy.
First Goslings

At Nine Springs we had a variety of shorebirds including this rarity, Hudsonian Godwit.

Pectoral Sandpiper

Eastern Kingbird

Blue Jay

Red-headed Woodpecker

This large, 25 pounds? Snapping Turtle needed to be moved out of the center of the road near Goose Pond

We watched this Sandhill Crane "painting" itself with red clay

Trying to cover every inch

But only about half done.

We are now in Green Bay for the next three weeks.
Birding of course!

Love & Prayers,
Ty & Ida Baumann
